To say that we are living in interesting times is the understatement of the century. The Chinese use the phrase “interesting times” to denote periods of uncertainty and potential conflict. Covid-19 is one ever-changing component of the interesting times in which we live.
I have been in practice for over 20 years, and have not witnessed anything close to the life changes Covid has brought. At this stage in the pandemic, many people are tasting the freedom of the lifting of travel restrictions. Going to visit family, on vacation, getting married, people are moving about far and wide. A small fraction of my patients do not feel safe leaving their homes and feel distain for those who don’t wear masks in public places. Another small percentage of patients seek healthcare with practitioners who don’t follow the law (in California all medical offices require everyone to be masked) because they despise masks.
No matter how you feel about these interesting times, chances are either you or someone you know has gotten Covid within the last 3 months. It seems that 1/2 my patients are on vacation and the other 1/2 are in isolation with Covid!
