Struggling to get pregnant (or stay pregnant)? Feeling alone?
You are NOT alone! One in eight couples in the United States struggles to build a family. They are your friends, coworkers, neighbors and family members. They are lesbian couples, heterosexual couples and single women, People struggling with infertility can feel so much shame, they can feel like failures, and the constant question they ask is “Why me?”.
I know these are common feelings my patients face. Our work together is comprised of support, education, diagnostics, and treatment. With these tools, I have helped hundreds of couples conceive. But, they all came to me in the beginning, feeling just like you. Some of them make their first appointment because they want to utilize a natural, health-based method of fertility enhancement, while others come to me for help making IVF or other assisted reproductive techniques more effective. Some people make their first appointment after years of infertility. My heart goes out to these people, because while we may make progress by leaps and bounds within less than 8 weeks, they are frustrated and burdened by the time they spent waiting for “it to happen”.
In honor of those struggling with infertility, RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association is sponsoring the annual National Infertility Awareness Week from April 21rd-27th, 2019. RESOLVE is a non-profit organization that lobbies for family building access, promotes public education and provides support groups.
National Infertility Awareness Week is a nation-wide movement to build public awareness about the common struggle of family building. The campaign is created so anyone who cares about the infertility community can feel empowered to do something that makes a difference, either in your own family building journey or to help someone else. Listen Up! and become part of the movement. How can you help spread the message?
- It’s time to understand how infertility can affect you.
- People with infertility matter. Join the movement to help build a community that understands their needs and supports their efforts to build a family.
- Infertility takes away the right to build a family. You can help those that struggle, join the movement.
- Policies and legislation can impact access to many family building options. Help us stop these anti-family laws.
